Introduction
The report that you are about to read is a first step in decoding the symbolic language of your birth chart. It explains the raw materials that you have been given for building a life. It outlines how the overall shape of your chart reflects the overall shape of your personality, what your greatest challenges are likely to be, the strengths you have been given to meet these challenges, and the main arenas you are given for playing out your life’s drama.

In this report you may notice certain places where the information seems to be contradictory. This is to be expected, because people are complex. For example, in some situations we are shy and in others, aggressive. When you see repeated patterns, though, take special note: these are apt to be the dominant themes in your life.

The Main Emphasis in Your Chart
The general distribution of planets around you at your birth is one of the things that shows the overall shape of your personality. Before taking a closer look at the details, let’s stand back for a moment to see whether your chart contains any obvious emphasis in a sign, group of signs, or other division of the horoscope wheel.

Most planets are in the eastern half of the chart.
You prefer to be in charge of your own destiny, rather than following someone else's dreams, adventures, projects or proposals. This tends to make you an outgoing, active person, in charge of your affairs. Independent and outwardly directed, you are conscious of the direction in which you lead your life. An entrepreneurial pursuit of some type will find you at your best. You need followers to help you, so be sure that you attract those who are willing to follow your vision. Be clear, however, as to who is in charge. Joining forces with someone as strong-minded as you may cause the kind of stress that will distract you from your goals. Make all possible allowances for practicality; and then go ahead and pursue your vision.

Most planets are above the horizon.
You tend to identify who you are with what you have accomplished in the world. This may make you highly competitive in establishing yourself within a definable lifestyle or career. Your trophy case or the diplomas on your wall may be a source of great personal satisfaction. It is important to balance your need for outer-world-accomplishments with care for your inner self. Also, take great care not to lose sight of the needs of your loved ones.

There are few or no planets in Fire signs.
With a marked lack of emphasis in the Fire signs (that is, Aries, Leo or Sagittarius), you are probably not one who burns the heavens bright like a meteor. Instead, you tend to be steady and consistent, and may become appalled at the abrasiveness of dominant personalities. Though you may at times seem low in spirits and lacking in self-confidence and personal initiative, you aren’t really. This is just your style: you don’t go for the drama. Let other more driven folks take the lead, get excited over trivialities, and blow their own horns.

You are more concerned with others’ feelings, and with security and stability in life. Things to be careful about include eating foods that are difficult to digest, especially hot and spicy dishes, because you may not assimilate them well. Also, you tend to tire easily when you exercise, so be moderate when it comes to physical activity. If you push yourself to pursue really challenging tasks, however, you will learn how to compensate for any areas in which you feel you are lacking. This will help you feel more comfortable in a world filled with blustering, dominant individuals.

There are many planets in Earth signs
Having so very many planets in Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn, you tend to be the soul of practicality and pragmatism. You prefer to deal with tangible things that you can touch, see or hear, and like to live in a world where things are measurable and there are no abstractions. You also like to work with the present moment, the here and now, especially if it creates a lasting outcome or is connected to a past. You may have to guard against a tendency to be overly conservative, cautious or narrow-minded.

Stability is your great strength. You can be counted on when things get crazy around you, because you generally don’t engage in knee-jerk reactions. Instead, you prefer to allow things to happen, and then you react in your own time. You initiate matters only when they aren’t proceeding in the direction that you expect. Because you tend to be passive, you need external stimuli to get you going.

Very fertile, you enjoy producing things of substance, from children to business reports. You are not, however, overly nurturing. You generally prepare the ground, plant the seeds and then walk away until harvest time. If the seed needs continual care and attention to grow to its fullest potential, you may or may not intervene. If you do offer assistance, it tends to be for the material, rather than the emotional, needs of whatever you are nurturing.

There are many planets in Mutable signs.
Your chart’s strong emphasis in signs like Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces makes you tend to be extremely flexible. When the situation demands that you change in order to move forward, you can adapt and transform yourself with ease. You are not necessarily the pioneering type, but if change must happen, it is natural for you to glide along with the flow. At times, though, you feel that you are at the mercy of forces beyond your control, and are constantly being blown from pole to pole. This may make you feel nervous and anxious, but like everything else in your life, this, too, will pass.

Aspects: Keys to Your Inner Drama
In your birth chart, the Sun, Moon and planets play the central role. They are the actors in the drama, the moving figures on the stage, each with a character of its own. How these characters relate to each other, whether and how they clash or harmonize, whether they bring out each other’s best or worst qualities, is shown by the aspects, or angles, between the planets.

Is the ongoing drama between two planets a continuing tension that periodically erupts into crises (conjunctions, oppositions and squares), a harmonious alliance where the two planets aid and abet each other (trines and sextiles), an uneasy truce full of ambiguities (certain other aspects in neither of these families), or simply indifference (no aspect at all)? Below you will see which pairs of planets are in aspect in your chart.

Each of the following sections lists the aspects in order of their general importance, with aspects involving the Sun, Moon and fast-moving planets coming first. You can get a further idea of their importance in your particular chart by going to the aspect table at the beginning of this report and finding the five or so aspects with the smallest number of degrees and minutes in the “The orb is” column.

Your Major Challenges
We start with your conjunctions, oppositions and squares because these tend to point out the challenges that you have been set in life. Mose people experience these aspects as problems, at least at first. Armed with awareness, however, you can come to view these so-called “ hard” aspects as the blessings that they really are. These are the forces that spur you forward. When you face the challenges that these aspects pose, you grow in strength, confidence, wisdom and maturity.

Sun opposite Pluto
Once you have decided on a course of action in your relationships, business or career, you do not allow others to alter your choice. You proceed on your course like a bulldozer, clearing everything in your path. It is not your choice of what to pursue that gets you in trouble, but your method of getting there. If you choose to act in a brutal and compulsive manner, you may win, but you will encounter strong and violent opposition, and the battle may destroy much of what you were hoping to gain. Learn to temper your ambition with tact and humility, and the obstacles in your path will melt away.

Sun conjunct Midheaven
This aspect makes the Sun extremely important in your chart. You have the energy, stamina and dedication to realize your goals and to become a success in your chosen line of endeavor. You are self-directed and are usually correct in the decisions you make, but if you would have others not judge you as being arrogant, listen to them once in a while and follow their advice — it will probably be complimentary to what you would have done anyway.

Moon square Mars
Your moods are so changeable and you are so restless and full of energy that it can be difficult for others to deal with you on a regular basis. Since irritability and a tendency to argue do not make for pleasant companionship, you need to find some way to use up your prodigious energy in ways that will not be threatening to others. Sports or other vigorous activities can be an excellent outlet. Your temper is quick and explosive and you must learn to contain it. Because you tend to take action only after strong emotional input, try to seek out the advice of a respected and practical friend before you make major decisions.

Moon square Saturn
At your best, you are cool, calm, objective and practical. Conservative and unemotional, you enjoy the rewards of maturity and increased responsibilities. But often your detachment makes you feel lonely, isolated and discontented with your lot in life. Your desire to be emotionally closer to people, and your inability to do so, may fill you with self-doubt and feelings of unworthiness, which in turn  makes you want to withdraw even further. Try to relax about this. Even if your emotional life is not as fast-paced as that of others, you are a marvelous and worthy person with a solidity that is much needed by the world.

Mercury square Ascendant
You feel a great need to seek out others and to share your ideas with them. Usually your thoughts and ideas are interesting enough to hold the attention of others, but you have to learn to become as good a listener as you are a talker. Don’t try to hog the whole conversation all the time, or you will drive people away from you, which is the opposite of what you intend. Take a breath once in a while, and let others talk. You will be surprised to find that they are almost as interesting as you are.

Mars opposite Saturn
Although you usually have good intentions, you often seem to make grossly inappropriate choices when presented with what seemed to be reasonable alternatives. This leads you to be ineffective, frustrated and bitter when you think that everything you do is a futile gesture. If this was a pattern you learned early on from a weak and ineffectual father figure, it will be difficult for you to unlearn this defeatist attitude. The easiest way to do it will be for you to narrow your goals and expectations and be willing to work long and hard at one specific and significant project. Things should come easier for you then.

Jupiter square Midheaven
You have high aspirations for yourself, and are likely to have the charm, grace and social sense to attain them. Self-righteousness and snobbery do not become you, however. Be careful not to allow your personal pride in your accomplishments to degenerate into arrogance or selfishness. Your downfall will be swift and sudden if you begin to think that you are better than your peers, or that you do not need the assistance of others to make your plans come about.

Jupiter conjunct Chiron
Generous and hospitable, you have strong social skills and an ability to put people at ease. If your confidence is challenged and you lose belief in yourself, though, you may fill the gap with destructive habits like eating, drinking or spending too much. Once your confidence is renewed, you can use your skills as a speaker, writer or teacher to instruct and help others. You truly like people, and know how to be diplomatic both in giving to others and in getting what you want.

Neptune square Nodes
You tend to put very little ego attachment into interpersonal relationships — and that often causes you many problems. If you’re detached totally from your relationships, you can end up exploiting others by lying or cheating (you think it’s OK because “you” aren’t involved). Or you can be on the receiving end of deception and deceit because you don’t feel worthy enough to demand some respect for yourself. Relationships are often formed between those who are not truly equal, so that one of you becomes the victim and the other the savior. Ultimately, none of these scenarios is healthy and you should seek the help of a trusted counselor or advisor if you wish to develop a proper sense of self-respect.

Chiron conjunct Ascendant
When you were young you may have experienced a physical weakness, learning disability or other difficulty that set you apart from your peers. Identifying with others who are different gave you enormous compassion, empathy, and the ability to heal. These qualities will serve to make you a better friend, partner, family member and professional practitioner. You are incredibly resilient, and despite your ups and downs always manage to land on your feet.

Your Sustaining Strengths
Trines and sextiles tend to work with a natural harmony that calls for little effort on your part. They show the things that you just seem naturally good at. Usually they point to the more positive parts of your nature, and act as support that you can call on in difficult times.

Because these aspects are so comfortable, they are not likely to push you to expand your limits or cause you to change. It is actually helpful to have a balance of hard aspects (like oppositions and squares) to stimulate you to grow, and soft aspects (trines and sextiles) to ease your passage and provide places to rest.

If you are blessed with a predominance of trines and sextiles, your life may tend to be placid and your nature serene. If so, remember that the world around you is probably sorely in need of these qualities that are yours to bestow.

Sun trine North Node
You delight so much in serving your community — in politics, neighborhood groups, charitable organizations, church groups, etc. — that you often become totally oblivious of the more personal needs of your family and loved ones. This isn’t usually an issue though, because your family and loved ones probably realize what an effective force you are in all your various projects and will themselves go out of their way to assist you. Your outgoing, cheerful nature tends to endear you to all you meet. Your popularity is assured because your sincerity is so very genuine, not at all forced or unnatural.

Moon trine Pluto
For most people the term “deep, meaningful relationship” is just a cliche, but for you it is the very essence of your emotional life. You must experience total absorption, total commitment and, ultimately, total understanding in any relationship. As such, you are so obsessive and compulsive in your emotional attachments that it is difficult for you to allow the other to grow and develop on his or her own. Beware of a decided tendency to manipulate your partners through guilt or open confrontation. Try not to be too possessive or pushy.

Venus sextile Ascendant
You are charming and graceful and others are attracted to you. Your popularity is assured because you really DO care for others. You want to make them comfortable and relaxed and you go out of your way to see that this happens. Your presence at any social occasion produces a very soothing, quieting effect. You have the ability to disperse tension and make all about you harmonious — the gift of the peacemaker.

Jupiter trine Saturn
You can be counted on to remain balanced and steady and self-assured. Others look to you to make decisions whenever a crisis occurs because you have the ability to blend foresight with caution in a manner that guarantees results. You love to make and execute plans. You are patient and willing to work very hard to attain your goals.

Jupiter trine Neptune
You are full of big ideas about how to make things better for yourself and for those you love. Unless you also have a strongly practical streak, these plans rarely amount to anything. However, that never stops you from dreaming on. The problem is that you are so inclined to totally believe in your grand schemes that you often take unwise risks, and have a hard time learning from your mistakes. Remember never to bet the mortgage, no matter what.

Saturn trine Neptune
You have a natural tendency toward asceticism. You have the ability to “do without”, especially if, by doing so, you think that you are furthering some important and worthy cause. The problem comes for you when you think that your goals are not being realized fast enough or that they may ultimately be impossible to bring about. Then, all sorts of nagging doubts and fears and insecurities creep in which, if they become chronic, can cause a continuing sense of depression and gloom. If you notice this happening, try to relax more. You have chosen a long and difficult path. The rewards will be few, but they will be worth the effort.

Chiron trine Neptune
Optimistic, spiritual, and idealistic, you have a never-ending faith in the human spirit. Compassionate and sympathetic, you always keep your door open to those in need, including stray animals and others not as well off as you. Your naivete and sweetness endear you to whomever you meet. Since you always lend an ear and a helping hand, people enjoy being in your company. Professions that utilize your admirable qualities include being a religious leader, teacher, counselor, evangelist, or spiritual healer.

Pluto sextile Ascendant
You have a magnetically attractive personality. Others view you as someone with the ability and power and personal resources to accomplish just about anything that you please. And indeed you do have the required will and drive to be successful. Because like sometimes attracts like, you also find that you are attracted to those who are powerful and influential.

North Node trine Midheaven
Your advancement in life is due to the quality of the people and groups with whom you associate. Your community spirit is high — you enjoy working with others for common goals. Your enthusiasm and sincerity and true caring allow you to quickly rise to the top and assume leadership roles in the many volunteer projects you take on. You’re a true humanitarian, caring little for personal gain. At some point your peers will probably honor you for your good works.

Rounding Out the Picture
Two other families of so-called “minor” aspects add yet more information about the way the planets relate to each other in your chart. Semisquares and sesquares (also known as sesquiquadrates) share the dynamic, crisis-prone nature of the square but need to be quite exact in order to be felt.

Semisextiles and quincunxes connect signs that are totally unrelated to each other. They can have an odd, unsettling quality, indicating problems or issues that it’s hard to get a grip on. They are like interesting puzzles that call for a creative solution.

Sun semisquare Venus
You are physically very attractive. Usually this a blessing, but at times it causes you problems. There are times when you would rather not be noticed, but this seems to be impossible and you appear to be your own worst enemy. This may cause you to feel uncomfortable and angry and insecure, and you will find it difficult to articulate your feelings because you are shy and soft-spoken by nature. Be aware that this will be a continuing problem. Learn to use it to your best advantage whenever possible and try to develop strategies so that you can maintain your privacy and peace of mind.

Sun semisextile Saturn
Your conscience always seems to be working overtime, and this annoys you a great deal. It seems that you can never allow yourself to do anything that seems in the slightest frivolous without feeling enormous pangs of guilt. This can make you feel quite uncomfortable and then you become withdrawn and frustrated, preferring not to act at all rather than compromise your high standards of conduct. When this happens, look around you. The action that you are worried about is probably not very daring when compared to what others do. Let yourself have a little fling once in a while — savor the forbidden fruit and then fall back into your usual pattern.

Moon semisquare Chiron
Sensitive and artistic, you are vulnerable to daily stress. When you lack emotional nourishment, you may seek comfort in food, alcohol, drugs or sex. You often attract those who need attention and care. A need to help others may be a way of overcompensating for low self-esteem or an inability to find a professional outlet. Your compassion lends itself to fields like medicine, social work and physical therapy. In addition, you have a fascination with subjects like history, architecture and anthropology.

Mercury semisextile Venus
At your best, you can sense the way that everything relates to everything else as a part of an organic whole. This usually enhances your ability to think things through. At times, though, when you are forced to think logically, rigorously and matter-of-factly, you become confused and dumbfounded. This is because you need to see whole patterns in order to make sense of things. You flounder when you cannot see the forest for the trees. Try stepping back a bit in order to get a proper perspective. This placement also indicates a refined aesthetic sensibility that allows you to appreciate art or even be an artist yourself.

Mercury semisquare Saturn
Your mind moves slowly and carefully, and you make no decisions until you have reviewed all the relevant possibilities. Even then, you move cautiously. Fearing to be wrong, you would almost rather not act at all than do anything that might cause others to judge you negatively. This forces you to be very thorough at whatever you do. In many situations this can be a great gift. It can also, however, limit your life and keep you in a rut. Occasionally giving yourself permission to be wrong can open up a world of new possibilities.

Mars semisquare Chiron
Instead of lashing out and hurting others, you may become self-destructive and inadvertently sabotage situations and relationships if they do not go your way. Learn patience, and if you hit a snag or do not immediately succeed, don’t get discouraged or angry. Just move on to something else. Don’t hold on to any anger that you might feel about not getting the job done. Rather than punish yourself for making mistakes, learn from them and try again.

Chiron semisextile Uranus
The desire to be recognized for your uniqueness motivates all that you do. Though you demand respect from others, you do not always give it in return. At times, you feel threatened by those who have equally passionate ideas. Mastering a skill or fighting for your beliefs can positively impact your life by making you feel special. You may have inspiring and original ideas, but hard work and consistency are what really get you to the head of the class.

Neptune semisquare Pluto
You, and your entire generation, will witness many revolutionary changes. Ideological conflicts will permeate the fabric of society, with everyone being forced to choose sides. As fortunes ebb and flow, new philosophies of life (including some never even dreamed of before) will be forced on the entire world by the victors — and then they too will be vanquished and replaced by others with a different philosophy, and so on for many generations.

Houses: Bringing the Planets Down to Earth
The positions of the planets in the zodiac, and the aspects between the planets, are nearly the same for everyone born on a given day. But the houses reflect how the planets were arranged around you and you alone, at a given hour and minute, and at a given place on Earth. Houses therefore personalize the planets, showing how they relate to your own particular life.

The meanings of the twelve houses echo those of the twelve zodiacal signs, but are more specific and concrete. For example, the second sign, Taurus, is much concerned with the material world, whereas the second house deals with your actual possessions: how you feel about them, and how you acquire them.

The house delineations that follow show how the affairs of each house are flavored by the sign that lies on its cusp. Since houses are sometimes larger than signs, a house may also have one or more signs completely enclosed or “intercepted” within it, in which case you will find additional material about the intercepted signs in a house. Most important, you will learn below in what areas of life the planets — the main actors in your drama — are disposed to be most active, and how the way each planet operates is influenced by both its house and its sign.

House 1: Your Interface with the World
The first house focuses on the basic equipment that you have been given for interacting with the world: your body and your physical constitution, your face, your appearance, your personality, mannerisms and the way you present yourself. It may not be how you see yourself, but it is how others tend to perceive you, and you should be aware that it has an important effect on how you are accepted in social situations. Planets in the first house tend to be strong and “out-front,” especially when they are close to (that is, conjunct) your Ascendant.

Taurus on the First
Calm and deliberate, you hate to move quickly or act hastily. Very practical, you feel that every effort must count or you can’t be bothered. Though you have admirable patience, persistence and steadiness, you can be very stubborn, and can’t be pushed or pressured into anything. Exuding an earthy warmth, friendliness and charm, you seem outwardly self-assured because you tend to repress your inner tension and turmoil. You demand comfortable surroundings and appreciate the good life, and need to watch a tendency to be overly self-indulgent. Some may call you lazy and difficult to motivate. Overcoming inertia does tend to be problem for you and, because you are not by nature a self-starter, you often need stimuli from others in order to get moving.

North Node in the First
You tend to be a real “social creature.” You prefer the social whirl of your friends and acquaintances — your need to express yourself creatively is done so much better in group situations than if you were on your own. You’re also a good friend and a trusted acquaintance and should be justly proud of that. While you’ll be among the first to stick up for the goals and needs of your group, try not to become overly dependent on your social acquaintances. There are certain situations that demand that you be able to act on your own and for your own personal good. You may have to go out of your way to learn the skills necessary to become self-reliant. It will be worth the extra effort.

North Node in Taurus
It’s not in your nature to seek out many casual acquaintances in your daily round of activities. You feel more comfortable with a small, close-knit group of people, those with whom you can relax, or those with whom you can work toward known and clearly defined goals. Once given, your loyalty to a person or group is forever, and you’ll expend all of your energy in seeing that the group stays together and prospers. You choose your partners and relationships so carefully that you’re bound to gain certain advantages from them, including those of a material nature. Make sure that there’s an even give-and-take, and do not let self-service be your sole motivation for establishing connections.

House 2: What You Own and Value
The second house goes a step outward from your own person and has to do with resources that you possess, including money. It shows your attitude toward what you own or would like to own: what you crave and covet, what you most value, how you go about getting it, how you take care of it, and whether or not you hang on to it. By extension, it can also indicate your sense of values: not just material things but also the attitudes and ideas that you hold dear.

Gemini on the Second
More than most, you understand the value of intangibles: information, intellectual property, financial instruments and paper assets. Some of your most cherished possessions may be concepts, and when you do lust after a thing, it may be a toy or game. You may also revel in the excitement of the investment game, and here, also, your interests are wide-ranging. You prefer not to keep all your financial eggs in one basket. Your preference for diversity is a good thing for your financial safety, because you tend not to be a buy-and-hold type of investor. Instead, you nimbly and frequently move your money around. Your strength is flexibility, and the ability to act quickly on new information. With this agile approach to the markets, you should be able to take advantage of the most favorable investment climates. Do keep in mind, though, that your values tend to fluctuate according to the fancy of the moment, and try to avoid being swept up by the latest fad.

Mars in the Second
You are very possessive, especially of property and material things. You enjoy being in total control over whatever you have decided to call your own, and will aggressively defend your right to maintain your “things.” At times, you are overly acquisitive, and do not show good judgment in making purchases: beware of impulse buying. Also, don’t get so caught up in your possessions that you have no time to enjoy them.

Mars in Gemini
Your energies get turned on quickly whenever anything interests you. But you have a very short attention span and it is difficult for you to complete tasks because something else more interesting always seems to be beckoning. You love to debate and argue, usually in a spirit of friendly disagreement. Watch out that you do not get overly aggressive or antagonistic, or others will be quick to take offense where none may have been intended. You need to be in constant physical motion, so that sports or daily exercise is a must for you if you are to feel fit and healthy.

House 3: Your Immediate Surroundings
Going a step further out from your own body and possessions, the third house has to do with your immediate surroundings and how you interact with them. The first “social” house, it describes brothers and sisters, neighbors and anyone who just happens to be near you on a daily basis. It also describes daily communication and transportation: letters, phone calls and emails, and routine journeys such as commuting to shopping, school or work. The first “mental” house, it governs early education and basic skills training, paving the way for higher education in the ninth house which is directly opposite it in the chart.

Cancer on the Third
Your mind is very sensitive to nuances and subtleties. You have the ability to see the emotional content and meaning behind the bare raw facts that are presented to you. This intuitive “sixth” sense allows you to be aware of the true motivations and intentions and needs of others and, as such, how you can best accommodate them. You are excellent at positions which demand interface with the public for these very reasons. At times, you feel insecure and tend to withdraw and become quite moody. You delight in the activities and daily routines of your family, relatives and nearby neighbors and will devote much time and effort to make your home and neighborhood a more comfortable and safe environment in which to live.

Pluto in the Third
Whenever you get interested in anything, you go whole hog. Your involvement is total, complete and all- absorbing, never superficial or casual. A very good investigator, you tend to form opinions only after a thorough analysis of all sides of the question. Once you have formed your opinions, you are very good at persuading others to adopt them. You enjoy sharing what you know and are sometimes overly zealous about it, especially when you meet any resistance.

Pluto in Cancer
Your entire generation was born into a period of profound global change, especially in the nature and shape of the family. During the twentieth century, major calamities such as depression and world war accelerated the replacement of the old village-oriented extended family by modern cosmopolitan living.

House 4: Where You Come From
Being at the very bottom of the wheel, the fourth house is both where you originate and where you come to rest. As such, it describes your parents and ancestral background, and later the home or protected space into which you retreat each day for nourishment and sleep. A deeply personal house, the fourth is concerned with security and peace of mind, the safety of loved ones, and how you care for others and yourself. The place of your roots and the earth beneath your feet, the fourth house rules the house or apartment where you live and also real estate in general. In your trajectory through life, the fourth house shows your origins and where you are coming from, just as the tenth house and Midheaven describe your career and where you aim to go.

Cancer on the Fourth
You are very sentimental about your mother (or the person who played that role for you as a child), your home, your family and your cultural background. You fondly remember those times when you felt most secure and comfortable and loved. You will spend much time and effort trying to recreate those feelings — security and peace of mind are paramount for you. When you are at your best, you willingly provide warmth and comfort to all, but, at your worst, you are moody and unpredictable and very demanding that others pay attention to you.

Leo on the Fourth
You are very proud of your family and home and cultural background. Quite the Lord or Lady of the Manor, you delight in the opportunity to entertain your guests as lavishly as your budget will allow. You will devote considerable time, expense and energy to furnishing your home in as regal a manner as possible, making it an elegant and refined showplace that will attract others to you. But beware of a tendency to be arrogant and condescending to those that you might deem to be beneath you — it does not become you. For the most part, you are kindly authoritative in your rule over your own personal kingdom.

No planets in the Fourth
You have no planets in the fourth house. This means that home and family are not likely to be major issues for you, or demand much time and energy on your part. For further information on how you handle the issues of security and peace of mind, look to the house and aspects of your Moon.

House 5: Playtime
After being nurtured and restored in the fourth house, you are refreshed and full of energy for play and creative pursuits. Replenished by dreams, you have creative ideas. Nurtured by your parents, you are ready to have your own children. Fresh from the security of home, you are ready to trust the universe and take risks. For all these reasons, the fifth house traditionally rules the child in you and the children around you, your own personal creativity and self-expression, plays and amusements of all sorts, gambling and speculation, and courtship, love affairs and romance. This is an outgoing house, but it is still beneath the horizon, in the territory of your heart’s desires.

Virgo on the Fifth
You have a very practical, no-nonsense approach to having fun. Your lack of romantic sensibilities can make you seem like a wet blanket at times, but you are truly not interested in all the posturings and preliminaries of lovemaking. You are quite earthy and prefer to get to the interesting parts immediately. Quite discriminating and practical, you are not attracted to casual dalliances — you prefer the security of a contracted relationship. The same attitude applies to children as well, should you have them. You are not overly doting on them, enjoying them much more once they become mature and less dependent on you. Quite creative, especially with your hands, you are attracted to those arts and crafts that require minute precision and patience, like fine needlework or the creation of elegant jewelry.

Neptune in the Fifth
Very imaginative and creative, you like to invent beautiful dreams and fantasies. Lovers and partners are seen as romantic figures, larger than life and without flaws. You also like to put yourself in the role of someone who rescues others from great peril or distress. Try to make sure that those whom you help or love are worthy of the sacrifices you are willing to make for them or you will end up disillusioned and disappointed. If you have children, you will also tend to idealize them and work long and hard to make their path through life smoother. Remember to encourage them to stand on their own two feet and make their own decisions — you must learn to let go.

Neptune in Virgo
You, and your entire generation, tend to idealize work, duty and responsibility. You may be fearful of anything that would force you out of the protective shell of your everyday routines. You place a high premium on personal pride in productivity and craftsmanship, but in your search for perfection in minor details you can lose track of the overall purpose of life.

House 6: Taking Care of Business
After the candle-lit dinner comes the credit-card bill. Courtship is followed by the nitty-gritty of married life: babies, diapers and saving up for college. After your creative impulse comes the need to learn the technique of actually making something. And if you overexpend your energy, you get health problems. The sixth house rules taking care of business on an everyday level. This includes your job, paying bills and keeping the house clean. It also includes maintaining your body with medical checkups and a daily regimen of nutrition and exercise. In the old books it ruled servants, and it can by extension rule the way you offer service to others. It also ruled useful animals, particularly small ones like cats, dogs, chickens and pigs. Today this usually means small pets, which exist in the personal, intimate part of your life that is signified by houses that lie below the horizon.

Libra on the Sixth
You need harmonious working conditions in order to have peace of mind at the work place. You cannot stand tension or stress and will work long and hard to see that discordant energies are capped. You yourself will make compromises so that things can run smoothly. You are also quite diplomatic and will be able to find a middle path pleasing to all for any dispute. There is ample reason for you to extend yourself like this — your health suffers significantly when you are in a highly charged, uncontrollable situation. When things go too well for you, though, your health can also suffer as you lull yourself into thinking that you can get away with being lazy and self-indulgent.

No planets in the Sixth
Your sixth house is not activated by planetary activity. Health and work-related issues are not usually paramount concerns for you. Of course, outside influences can temporarily upset this balance, causing you to devote more time and energy to these parts of your life, at least on a temporary basis.

House 7: Relating One-to-One
If you courted in the fifth house and woke up in the sixth yoked to another in a daily routine, the seventh house gives you a chance to hammer out a relationship of true equals. The goal is wedded bliss and a true sense of relatedness, but along the way there may be fights as you each define your individuality and establish your own territory. Not only is the seventh the traditional house of marriage, it is also the house of open enemies, your sparring partners in life. In general, since the first house is you yourself, the seventh house, directly opposite, is the other person in a variety of situations. Besides signifying a marriage or sparring partner, the seventh house rules business partners, or those on the other side of a desk, such as consultants, lawyers, therapists or astrologers.

Scorpio on the Seventh
You are obsessively involved in the relationships that are most important to you. The very fact of committing yourself to another fascinates you so much that you don’t take the process lightly. Once you have completed a contractual arrangement with another, either in a business or personal sense, you devote yourself totally to making it work. Things may be rocky every once in a while, with many crises along the way, but your intense loyalty will allow the partnership to survive. Your delight in observing the mechanics of human interrelationships causes you to keep pushing and probing and testing your partner so much so that the relationship always seems to be falling apart. But you will fight very hard to see that it stays together.

No planets in the Seventh
You have no planets in the seventh house of your horoscope. This does not mean that you will never have any relationships or that you will never get married. What it does indicate is that you will not find your life overly dominated by working out problems associated with relationships. You will experience more or less activity in these areas occasionally, along with everyone else.

House 8: Giving It All Away
Having achieved a relationship of equals in the seventh house, you are ready to give up your separateness in the eighth, merging in sexual union and becoming one on a deep emotional level. If the second house was about grasping and possessing, the eighth is about sharing and letting go. While the second rules your own money, the eighth rules how you deal with other people’s money and how you pool resources. On a mundane level the eighth rules taxes, but on a fundamental level it can rule giving up anything you value, including your ego and even your body. In relaxing your grasp on what you find most dear, you may find that you are really not as dependent on it as you thought. In relinquishing, you achieve a new level of freedom, and feel lighter, renewed and more alive. Related to all this, the eighth signifies mysteries such as death and resurrection, magic and the occult, and the deep parts of the psyche that are beyond our conscious grasp.

Sagittarius on the Eighth
You have a very honest, refreshing and open-minded approach to sexual matters. You will only proceed in any liaison if your high standards of ethics and morality are not compromised in any way. Once these conditions have been met, you are an enthusiastic participant — willing to experiment if you both desire to do so and enjoying and needing the more recreational aspects of one-to-one intimate encounters. You also have an expansive and enthusiastic attitude toward investments. You are willing to take risks if you are convinced of the moral integrity of any scheme. You enjoy the thrills and sporting fun of speculation.

Saturn in the Eighth
Your life is filled with major transformations and changes, but they usually have a negative effect on you. This is because you tend to regard any new direction as a death, an ending, and you grieve for what has now been lost. You must learn instead to regard them as births, as new beginnings or new directions that will present new challenges for you. Because of your fear of change, you tend to withdraw and are unwilling to share what you have with others. This overly cautious approach to resources has its good side, though — you are unusually well qualified to care for the property and resources of others.

Saturn in Sagittarius
Basically quite conservative, you respect traditional authority figures and are very thankful and supportive of the laws and institutions which govern your life. You learn and accept new ideas only after having very thoroughly examined them. Ideals and abstract concepts are important to you only if they can be used in some practical fashion. You are so practical and so orderly that you have natural skills in planning, administrating and organizing.

House 9: Expanding Your Awareness
Approaching the highest point in the sky, the ninth house wafts you up and out of your rut, giving you a broad and lofty view of the terrain beneath. Whereas the third ruled basic schooling and short trips, the ninth rules higher education and long-distance travel. It removes you from your everyday routine so you can see the overall pattern, the overlooked connections between things. It rules all-embracing concepts (such as your philosophy of life) and institutions (like religion and law) that stand over society and keep it bound together. It can also signify your teachers and mentors, your library, and all else that broadens your outlook.

Capricorn on the Ninth
You have a very practical approach to philosophical and metaphysical concerns. Basically, you are only interested in an idea or viewpoint if you can turn it to some immediate benefit. You are thus not attracted to abstractions because they are really only speculative in nature and you only like to deal with the known and reliable. You tend to accept the views of those whom you admire and will not want to deviate from a life course once you have set on it. You are thus orthodox and narrow-minded by choice. You do not enjoy surprises or distractions as you proceed on toward your life’s goals.

Sun in the Ninth
By nature, you are inquisitive and restless. You enjoy asking questions about broad and far-reaching subjects such as law, religion and philosophy. A good scholar, you love to read widely and you may also travel widely in order to satisfy your insatiable curiosity. Generally optimistic, you tend to be quite tolerant of the faults of others. You hate the stultification of outworn habits, preferring to act immediately on your many enthusiasms..

Sun in Capricorn
Extremely serious and mature, you are capable of accepting responsibilities and do so willingly. Others expect you to be dutiful as a matter of course. You may get angry when people are rewarded after not having worked nearly as hard as you have. Goal-oriented and an achiever, you are justifiably proud of the tangible results of your efforts. You are not a fast worker, but you are thorough, and you are known for being unusually persistent, tireless and tenacious in reaching your goals. When you’re working, you tend to have a kind of tunnel vision that allows you to block out extraneous matters that would distract others. Your power to concentrate totally on the matter at hand enables you to be practical and efficient at managing and structuring complex, ongoing projects.

House 10: Your Public Self
If the fourth house showed your roots and where you came from, the tenth shows what you are ultimately aiming at in life. Whereas the sixth shows your daily job and how you make a living, the tenth signifies your career, your personal contribution, your reputation and what you become known for. Some astrologers also believe that the fourth house signifies one parent, and the tenth signifies the other. The tenth-house parent is most likely the one who prepares you for the world. The closer a planet is to the Midheaven, the more likely that planet is to be the major significator of your life’s direction.

Capricorn on the Tenth
You have an incredibly strong need to succeed at whatever life goal you have set for yourself. You feel that you absolutely must succeed, because you fear failure. You therefore organize your life with an astounding degree of thoroughness so that nothing can distract you. Your need to be thorough usually comes at the expense of speed, making you a bit of a plodder. You are the ideal person to supervise an ongoing task that must be executed with precision. Because of your persistence, you are able to make real what for others are only dreams .

Aquarius on the Tenth
You have the ability to work well within the structure of a large group as long as the basic philosophy that binds the group together is as humanitarian and high-minded as your own. If it isn’t, you will lead the struggle to reform it. Your career must allow you plenty of space for creative tinkering — you are always looking for better ways to do things. You are naturally attracted to careers that involve precise measurements and very complex technologies, like science, communications, electronics or maybe even astrology.

Mercury in the Tenth
Your career will involve the use of your mind or perhaps the development of some skill that demands great hand-eye coordination. Advanced training and education will be important to you, not only because you have the aptitude for it, but also because you can apply the things you learn in practical and concrete ways. You are very good at expressing yourself through speech or writing, and may well be attracted to a career in teaching, travel or communications.

Mercury in Aquarius
You appreciate and need mental and intellectual stimulation. With your strongly felt notions about things, you tend to be opinionated, and can be quite vocal about expressing and defending your ideas. You are also an original thinker who likes to shock others with your offbeat, original thoughts. Your judgment is usually fair and impartial. Because you can remain objective and unemotional about most things, you can be effective as a critic.

House 11: Your Circle of Acquaintances
The eleventh is the last house of relationships: not brothers, sisters and neighbors who just happen to be around you, not one-to-one partners, but the circle of friends and associates whom you actively choose. It shows the way you make and keep friendships, the organizations you join, the networking you do, and the general way you interact with groups. After you have established yourself as an individual and learned to form personal relationships with others, you are ready to think about the common good. This is why the eleventh often signifies groups dedicated to social or other sorts of collective improvement.

Pisces on the Eleventh
Your friendships are very important to you. You tend to idealize the concept of friendship, much the same way that the ancient Romans did. You are loyal to your friends and will do almost anything you can to assist them, even if it involves personally inconveniencing yourself. Indeed, you are so sympathetic to the plight of friends and associates that you seem to have a sixth sense when dealing with them — you know what is on their minds before they articulate it. You have a similar attitude toward groups and associations, often devoting much time, energy and resources to charitable or community organizations, usually on a volunteer basis.

Many planets in the Eleventh
You are at your best when dealing socially with those with whom you feel you are compatible. You consciously seek out groups and friendships that promote your own philosophical or religious views and you will become very active on behalf of these groups, either as an unpaid volunteer or as a professional administrator. You would gladly sacrifice your immediate comforts so that the group’s goals can be accomplished. Be careful, however, that your views are not too narrow-minded. It would be wise to try to see things from anther’s point of view before you make any hasty judgments.

Moon in the Eleventh
You need friends and associates who are emotionally supportive of you. You will tend to maintain contact with important friends from your earliest years. Also, you enjoy functioning in groups where you can play the den mother type of role, working selflessly to support and encourage the activities of others, especially the young or misfortunate. You tend to be moody and that can raise havoc with friendships — be careful. Also watch out for the tendency to let beliefs and prejudices accepted as a child rule your life as an adult. Learn to weigh opinions with logic and reason.

Moon in Pisces
You have strong feelings and are extremely sensitive. It would help if you had a thicker skin — you tend to react emotionally to every situation you come across. Kind, gentle and considerate of the feelings of others, you are good at taking care of the sick, wounded and helpless. But you tend to absorb the energy of others — so avoid those who are always negative. You have a rich, creative and lively imagination, but you should be careful not to spend all your time daydreaming. Very intuitive, you have good ESP and may be quite clairvoyant or psychic. Remember that you too have the right to get what you want from life. If you are always defensive and kowtowing to others, people will take advantage of you and exploit you.

Venus in the Eleventh
Very sociable, you love good company and good times. An avid team person, your grace and personal charm adds to any social occasion. Your openness and sincerity makes you popular and sought after. Friends and associates are an endless source of pleasure for you. You prefer creative, lighthearted people — those who are too serious strike you as being dull, boring and stuffy.

Venus in Pisces
You have a dreamy, fanciful, romantic nature and a very creative imagination. Indeed, at times, your private fantasies are more appealing than the reality around you and it is difficult for you to leave them. You tend to be unselfish and giving in relationships and are extremely sensitive of the needs of others. Be very sure that those you help are worthy of your devotion and are not merely taking advantage of your innocence and naivete.

Uranus in the Eleventh
You are attracted to friends and associates who are unconventional, unorthodox, and sometimes quite offbeat. They tend to share and support your own non-traditional opinions and viewpoints. You demand that friends not attempt to limit you or control you in any way — and you do the same for them. You are especially fearful or anxious when anyone tries to make unnecessary emotional demands on you and will end a friendship rather than feel that your freedom is being compromised in any way. Your best friends are the ones who introduce you to new and startling ideas and concepts. They stimulate your thinking and thus enrich your life.

Uranus in Aries
For you, as well as for the rest of your peers, the issue of personal freedom is not just an abstract issue that can be discussed and then forgotten. You feel very deeply the loss or threat of loss of your ability to remain unrestricted and independent. And you will react vigorously and vociferously to defend your right of self- expression, no matter what the cost.

House 12: The Hidden You
The twelfth house is where planets go just after they have risen. Here planets are still wet behind the ears, blinking in the sunlight and unsteady on their feet. Feeling completely vulnerable, planets in the twelfth tend to hide. Their energies can become repressed and secretive, and sometimes they lurk as complexes in the subconscious. This is why the twelfth is associated with self-sabotage, with hidden enemies, and with prison and whatever else makes you feel confined. The traditional association with hospitals and prisons suggest that constructive ways of dealing with twelfth-house problems include helping others who are similarly repressed or confined. Also, some with a strong twelfth-house emphasis become successful as undercover workers or as the power behind the throne.

Aries on the Twelfth
You have developed a habit of initiating a response to certain stimuli and then regretting that you did so. It is almost as if you were ashamed to have notice brought to yourself. Perhaps, when you were quite young, you were told or led to believe that it was not seemly to be forward or aggressive and that you should always stifle any attempts to do anything with enthusiasm and energy. Learn to trust your better instincts. You probably have built in so many defense mechanisms by now that you will not do anything foolish in anyone’s eyes. When you feel strongly drawn to initiating something, go for it — you will be surprised at how effective you can be.

Jupiter in the Twelfth
You have a gentle, unselfish demeanor about you and you are kind and generous to those who are less fortunate than you. Quiet and humble, you prefer to avoid the limelight, doing the best you can from behind the scenes. You delight in the peace, quiet and sustenance of your own inner world. At times, you have problems caused by your tendency to be extravagant in your gestures — but this is not usually the case.

Jupiter in Taurus
Growth only occurs for you after you have found a stable lifestyle and a dependable, protective and secure environment. You are at your best when those around you provide you with a great deal of affection and support. When you feel insecure or threatened, you tend to become possessive and grasping and self- indulgent. You are an inveterate collector with an expensive preference for all the good things that life has to offer.

Chiron in the Twelfth
Suffering is something you know all too well. Even if you are not to blame, you will somehow find a way to feel guilty about whatever goes wrong in your life. Compassionate and sensitive, you are willing to dedicate yourself to helping others. You often fritter away hours in daydreaming and making unrealistic plans. The inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality will impact on your relationships as well as your job performance. Being familiar with emotional pain allows you to help others to take steps toward changing their lives.

Chiron in Taurus
Fear of poverty motivates your desire to work hard and make money, often to the exclusion of meaningful relationships. Beneath your impeccable appearance and sexual magnetism lies an insecure child seeking approval from peers and loved ones. Tolerant, generous and infinitely patient, you have earned the reputation for being the one upon whom others can rely. Once you begin to feel good about yourself, you won’t feel guilty about all the material things your money can buy. You are sensual and affectionate but require a great deal of tenderness and attention in return.

A Mirror of Your Uniqueness
This report is based on the position of the Sun, Moon and planets at the moment of your birth, as seen from the point on Earth where you were born. Such an arrangement of planets and stars will never be repeated in exactly the same form. Like the genes that determine your body and temperament, your astrological chart is made up of the same basic parts that other humans have, but the arrangement of these parts is uniquely your own.

You could think of your birth moment as a seed that contains the potential for how you will unfold. The arrangement of the planets at your birth does not, however, cause your body structure and temperament in the way that the patterning of your DNA causes it. Instead, the planetary positions at your birth employ the language of symbols to mirror who you are. Like a mirror, your chart enables you to see yourself from outside yourself, and it therefore extends your point of view.

To use a different analogy, your chart shows the deck you’ve been dealt, the raw materials you are given from which to fashion a life. Nobody’s perfect: we are all given our special problems to solve and our special strengths and beauties. In knowing what you have to work with, you will be better able to make use of your gifts, fill in (or at least be comfortable about) what you lack, and grow in the life directions that are right for you and you alone.

Instead of assuming that there is one norm for everyone, astrology attempts to show the special pattern that is right for you. In doing so, it can give you clues as to how you can more fully and consciously fill the unique role that you have been given in this lifetime, and enrich the world with the gifts that only you can bestow.
