Paul Farmer is a man on a mission: to bring health care to those who need it most. Under his visionary leadership, the organization he co-founded, Partners in Health, not only opens clinics and hospitals, it provides health education and engages the local community in its outreach programs. Although he has had lots of help, Farmer is another example of one person following his instincts and interests to start a movement. His drive, his passion, his commitment and his accomplishments are noteworthy. Recently he was featured on "60 Minutes" where he acknowledges the thousands of lives he and his co-workers have saved. As we watch the ongoing debate over health care in the U. S. and hear about health care crises here and elsewhere in the world, we thought it would be instructive to learn more about Paul Farmer and review his chart.

What Do You Think?

  1. Where in the chart is his vocation and mission? What factors might indicate that he would devote his life to the issues of health care (or lack thereof) and poverty? Where is the man's legendary drive and ability to get things done? What motivates him to give so much of himself to the cause of bringing attention and medical care to the impoverished?

AstroDatabank Update on Barack Obama

Thanks to everyone who wrote to me while I was away about the posting of Barack Obama's birth certificate on the web. Of course, we can't be sure that it hasn't been altered but it looks authentic and I feel that we can (cautiously) raise his Rodden Rating to AA. Remember that the source notes of all entries are far more important than the Rodden Rating. Always read the complete source notes and make your own judgments about the reliability of the data. Barack Obama's entry in AstroDatabank already contains voluminous source documentation and I am adding the following update to substantiate the AA rating:

A time of 7:24 PM is given on a copy of his birth certificate which appeared on the following websites (and others) in June 2008:
