As a conservative Republican he successfully won the office of Governor in a liberal state. Romney is considered squeaky clean and scandal-free, seems to have the requisite "family values," speaks well, has stage presence, and has an admirable track record, especially in management. Yet in the early national polls and fund-raising efforts, his campaign seems to be lagging.
