SECTION I.  The Structure and Intent of Your Life.

 There are four items of general interest that we want to take up here in Section I: A) Hemisphere and Quadrant Emphasis, B) Elements and Modes, C) The Ascendant and Midheaven, and D) The Conjunctions.  These four categories give us an intelligent overview of how you structure personal experience and what you aim for in life.  This general patterning gives us a context to understand the specific personal meaning of the material in Sections 2 through 11.

     A.  Hemisphere and Quadrant Emphasis

The different areas of life are laid out in the horoscope by spatial territories called houses.  These areas of life show interests and general involvements for each person.  These areas can be grouped together for a vast overview of most basic inclinations of the person. The most useful general groupings of houses is into hemispheres and quadrants.  Emphasis in a hemisphere or quadrant shows a particularly strong focus toward life from that perspective.

          1. Hemisphere

The horoscope can be split into 2 equal parts, either horizontally (giving us the upper and lower hemispheres) or vertically (giving  us the right and left hemispheres).  The Upper Hemisphere shows the outer, more extroverted side of the personality, the Lower Hemisphere shows the more introverted and hidden side of the personality.  In the Left Hemisphere planets are rising and this shows action.  In the Right Hemisphere planets are setting and this shows reaction.

Most Planets Above the Horizon

You have the majority of your planets above the horizon showing that you have a need for contact with the outer world in order to feel fulfilled each day.  You enjoy projects, achieving and a sense of accomplishment.  Success for its own sake is more important than what security it might present to you.

Most Planets Rising

You have the majority of your planets on the eastern half (or left-hand side) of your chart showing that you take great pains to be sure that you are free to act as you wish in life.  Freedom of movement and expression are important to you.  You have a strong feeling that you make your own destiny.

          2. Quadrant

The two ways of splitting the horoscope into hemispheres can be applied simultaneously giving us four quadrants.  The FIRST is called the quadrant of personality.  The SECOND is called the quadrant of the environment.  The THIRD is called the quadrant of relationship.  The FOURTH is called the quadrant of service.

Most Planets in the Fourth Quadrant

You have the majority of planets in the fourth quadrant showing that you have a fascination with the big picture.  You are interested in accomplishing something in the larger world.  You wish to serve the community somehow.  Career and projects that have an effect on more than your own life become the focus of your activity.  You often attract recognition.  This may or may not be important to you.

     B.  Elements and Modes

The Elements and Modes show what we aim for in life.  They show our broadest focus and in the most general sense, how we go about achieving our goals.

          1. Elements

The four elements (fire, earth, air and water) are the most comprehensive inventory of the personality that we have. Everything in the universe including the human personality can be examined in terms of the four elements.  FIRE is your basic enthusiastic urge,  EARTH shows your concern for the material world,  AIR is the element of abstract thought,  WATER is your empathy impulse.  Fire and earth are primitive and focus on the self.  Air and water are derivative and focused on others.  Fire and air are naturally extrovert, optimistic, active, and freedom oriented.  Earth and water are basically introvert, pessimistic, passive, and security oriented.

Fire

You have 20% of your chart in the fire element showing that you have an awareness of how much energy you lack that others seem to have.  Still, you have plenty of enthusiasm and stamina prevalent.  You go toward each project with a certain amount of pre-selectivity.  You are always prompted to do more, primarily because you don't trust that you are doing enough.  In the long run, this single characteristic guaranties you accomplish much in life.

Earth

You have 20% of your chart in the earth element.  You have a natural knack for dealing with money, material resources, and projects where the end result is important.  You may worry about your results and be very concerned that you aren't doing as well as you should materially. Still, in the long run, you are quite accomplished in knowing how to get the most out of existing conditions.

Air

You have 30% of your chart in the air element.  You vacillate between being very interested in people and ideas and needing time by yourself. Periodic isolation and an involvement with routine, commonplace activities that do not require innovation are relaxing for you.  You need both spontaneous activities as well as predictable patterns in your life.

Water

You have 30% of your chart in the water element.  The emotional content of your chart is so strong that it is never a neutral ingredient in your life.  How you are able to integrate this quality of empathy into the rest of your personality traits will determine how well you will mingle with others.   Learning good relationship skills early in life is very important to your proper adjustment and socialization to life and your culture.

          2. Modes

The three modes are CARDINAL, FIXED, and MUTABLE.  The modes of expression show how you act out your urges in the world.  They represent your most basic responding mechanism toward all of life experience.  The cardinal planets show direct expression in physical action, leadership ability and strength.  The fixed mode planets in your chart show reaction, consistency, persistency, endurance and stubbornness.  The mutable planets in your chart show synthesis, blending, malleableness, thought, forethought, debate and wisdom.  The following statements show the way the three modes manifest in your life.

Cardinal

You have 30% of your chart in the cardinal mode showing you have a dynamism within you that prefers to act according to your own perceptions rather than someone else's.  You are action-oriented, but you easily follow others' lead if they are going in a direction that you like.

Fixed

A tremendous amount of your chart is in the fixed mode.  You have endurance.  Whether a course of action is good or bad you are more likely to stay with it than change.   The principle of inertia is with you.  When you rest, you have real difficulty getting going.  When you are in motion,  you have real difficulty stopping or even changing directions (even  slightly).  People find you a loyal friend and a tenacious enemy.

Mutable

You have 30% of your chart in the mutable mode.  Adjustment to new circumstances is relatively easy for you.  Part of your nature is very stimulated by change.  You like to think about your experiences so as to accommodate any new information that occurs.  This is not your only way of being but your favorite mode of operation can be reactive. Exposure to new ideas and methods can help you be calmer while still helping you maintain interest in life.

     C.  The Ascendant and Midheaven (Signs and Aspects)

          1.  The Ascendant

The ascendant is symbolic of our relationship to our immediate environment.  This is the point rising in the east when we are born. One manifestation of our immediate environment is our physical body. The physical environment includes our body, our surroundings and our emotional and mental states.  Thus, the ascendant tells us how our inner core expresses itself, and how we take in information from others and the universe generally. The sign rising in your horoscope tells us the type of energy you are processing, the type of physical body that you have for doing the processing and the natural inclinations you have in the personal arena in life.  The planets in aspect to your ascendant tell us the kind of energy and stamina you have as natural allies in life.  The ascendant is opposite the seventh house cusp (the place where we meet others and the world).  This axis (ascendant-descendant) is how we clarify ourselves through relationships. Planets in aspect to this axis indicate the types of people and the types of relationships we seek as well as how and why we seek them.

                             SCORPIO RISING

Let's face it, you're intense. You have boundless energy and employ it freely on any task at hand.  You need to be discriminating so that your efforts come to something.  You have difficulty changing course once you set sail, so make sure you are heading in the right direction before you set sail.  Others never really know you and a certain "loner" quality is within you.  This doesn't have to be lonely.  You are always fighting battles within your own soul that keep you preoccupied with your inner qualities.  You are secretive by inclination.  You hold your thoughts as precious and useful to you alone.  When you do wish to take someone into your inner life, words fail to describe your true inner feelings.  Strange as it may seem, you place a high value on relationships.  You go out of your way to bring them about and to maintain them.  Still, at your heart space, your marriage partner looking into your eyes has the distinct feeling of looking into "one way  mirrors".  Your emotional inner sanctuary is so private, it is only rarely that you let even yourself in.

You will work harder than most people to express outwardly what you feel inwardly.  However, the rewards for you are also great. This is because the development of harmony between your inner and outer life becomes a wonderful mechanism or tool to achieve self-understanding. Further, this blending becomes a major tool, aiding you with the achievement of every other goal in life.

Your most sensitive feelings are often lost on others.  Time and again you have to go back to the beginning of any group project to clarify what it is that you are trying to accomplish.  "Short cuts" can be time consuming and force you into re-appraising your habits.

You like people and ideas.  You get nervous when you are dealing with people who you feel are different than you are or when you feel that you are being misunderstood.  Your changes in expression can be interpreted as changes in viewpoint by others, adding to your nervousness and to general confusion.  Remember, understatement is usually more helpful than overstatement.

Venus Conjunct the Ascendant and in the 1st House and unafflicted

You are a charmer.  People like you initially and this attribute helps tremendously in making your way in life.  There is an artistic streak in you that others will help manifest if you show any consistent interest in expressing it.  Your physical presence has such a positive impact on others it can well sway an issue or decision in your direction.

Neptune Conjunct the Ascendant and in the 12th House and unafflicted.

You are an idealist and will work hard for a cause.  You are so sensitive and your attention is absorbed by so many intangibles that you need to have time by yourself each day in order to restructure your approach to life and check your own signals. Your emotions set a very high standard for you to live up to and you will not be happy in a close personal relationship with someone unless they share your values. It is imperative that you communicate them to anyone close to you  (for them more than for you).  Because others can project qualities onto you that you don't have, you have a responsibility to keep your signals straight with them.  Emotions and ideals are closely aligned with each other and form the backbone of every meaningful event in your life. The Midheaven is the high point in your chart.  It indicates what you aspire for, what you see as your duty, and what authority and limits are about.  Because of this basic meaning the Midheaven indicates how you live out your social station and what you do for your career.  The point opposite the Midheaven is the fourth house cusp, referred to as the nadir, which is the indication of our roots, our heritage. This axis (Midheaven-Nadir) indicates the way we grow in life.  The sign on the Midheaven shows our basic energy and approach toward dealing with the world.  Planets in aspect to the Midheaven show qualities of our inner being that we wish to contribute to the world and that we wish to be fulfilled through our interaction with the outer world.

                             VIRGO MIDHEAVEN

You are careful about taking on new responsibilities.  Once committed, you try to do your best.  You make progress in life by paying attention to details and by focusing on the most important items in your daily experiences and completing them satisfactorily.

You make your mark on the world and on others.  You may have some struggles coming to terms with your responsibilities.  This stumbling block may have to be confronted a few times before you get your direction of achievement clearly demarcated.  You do make your way in life.  Your personality is painted in bold colors.

Moon Sesquiquadrate Midheaven

The general public will often not understand your needs and how you communicate.  Your mind and emotions become intertwined with each other and it is difficult for you to recognize how prejudiced your thinking can be.  Early life experiences can create a foundation for understanding but it also has left you with unrealistic preconceptions as to what life can give. Overcoming the past helps you come before the public.

Venus Square Midheaven

You are naturally attracted to things of beauty.  You are motivated by love and romance.  You need to make sure that these ingredients don't override and conflict with common sense and your real responsibilities. Color, form and taste are very important to you, but there are times when your personal choices run against the grain of the culture and you need to make sure that this is not problematic.  Recognize that others' taste is different without being worse.

Your energy and desires are strong but not easily expressed.  It takes work for you to learn mechanisms for getting what is inside of you to the surface of life.  You would like to be the master of your own fate but must submit to others' authority for some time while you are learning about creating meaningful structures and procedures.  Once this is accomplished you grow in independence and personal expression.

You have a quiet confidence and a positive expectation for the future that keeps the good things of life approaching you.  You are genuinely lucky but need to know when you have had enough. Your expectations for the future may be unrealistic.

The pressures of life can weigh on you, especially in youth. Learning to handle your obligations in a timely and limiting manner is very important part of coming to understand what your life is really about. You have a well developed social conscience that is not always attuned to your desires.  Frustrating compromises are necessary until you start fashioning your desires into a mold of social responsibility and awareness.  From this point on there is no conflict between your culture, social vision and your personal destiny.  You take pleasure in fulfilling your own goals as they are in step with your social picture.

Uranus Applying Conjunction to Midheaven and afflicted.

You explore your career and life in general through a series of wild impulses.  You express your unique and innovative ideas at every available opportunity.  Your will is uncompromising and your need for personal freedom can cut short your ability to gain acceptance for your futuristic and humanitarian ideals.  Life improves by learning compromise.

Pluto Applying Conjunction to Midheaven and unafflicted.

You are powerful and have a strong need for being in control. When you find career stagnating and you lose interest in your work, this is the time to stop and look at your own life.  You are psychologically attuned to your environment and situation. You are good at sizing everyone up and seeing what their real concerns are.  Avoid manipulating others.  Although you are successful, to control another is to be responsible for them. You are an extremist by nature and tend to polarize others. Do your best to be supportive and encouraging of others.

     D. The Conjunctions.

A Conjunction occurs when two planets are in the same immediate area of the Zodiac.  The conjunctions in your chart show central linkings of basic energies in your life.  When one area (represented by a planet) expresses itself, it brings along the other area (represented by the other planet).  When you are studying the rest of this printout of your life, keep in mind that linking of these energies is a central theme in your life and these areas should be studied together.

Uranus Conjunct Pluto

Think of Sections IX. URANUS - Your search for freedom, and XI. PLUTO -Your need for fundamental change, as operating together. This combination shows strength of purpose and drive for spontaneous creativity.  This Conjunction is a central ingredient in your life.

SECTION II.  The SUN - Your Ego Structure 

The Sun is the center of the solar system.  All life revolves around it within this sphere.  In the same way, the ego is the center of personal identity and gives integration and continuity to individual experience. In this sense, it might be said that the Sun shows character.  This is the fixed pillar at the center of the person around which all else circulates or revolves.

The sign placement of the Sun shows the center of the individual's basic character.  The sign of the Sun is the most primary indicator of the forms of experience you are attracted to.  Further, this most important placement shows how and why you are attracted to these experiences.

The house placement of the Sun sign shows the primary area of expression for the individual in life.  There is a psychological, emotional, and physical significance to the house placement of the Sun. Aspects to the Sun show ways that the core of the personality are linked to other component elements in the individual's life.  Aspects to the Sun have a deep and overriding significance in the life of the individual and are generally more important, more prominent than other aspects in the chart.

SUN IN LIBRA

You are a good negotiator and a natural diplomat, always seeking harmony and always seeing other people's point of view.  You have a love of beauty, are inspired by ideals, and have an especially strong sense of justice. You want your surroundings to reflect your vision of the world which is oriented to beauty, harmony and balance.  You are so friendly and so diplomatic that you may seem to lack resolve to others. You see infinite shades of meaning to each issue and it appears as if you are inconsistent.  Your life improves when you don't procrastinate and when you aren't afraid to tell people your point of view even when you know they don't want to hear it.  Be more decisive.

Sun in 11th house

You are a good long-distance planner.  Your perceptions of life's intricacies are not limited to your own situation.  You are social and outgoing.  In business as well as in sports you are a good team player. In your personal life you may be too detached with ideas and moods which run quite tangent to the norm.  Be sure you are expressing your true feelings.

You need to guard against becoming so entrenched in your own point of view that you don't see the obvious.  You are apt to throw good energy into a lost cause because you see an ideal that you embrace.  Your financial picture can be unstable because of poor judgment.

You have a tendency to get in your own way.  You have material and emotional needs that cut against the grain of what you try to accomplish for ego satisfaction.  You have some real success in life but it can be short-lived or fluctuating until the time that you have eked out some reasonable compromise between your inner drives and your mechanisms and techniques for accomplishing your goals.  When you have difficulty mastering sufficient physical vitality or enthusiasm for a goal you have chosen, it is time to get to the roots of the inner conflict that is stealing your energy.

SUN OPPOSITION YOUR MOON

Dynamic tension exists between energy and goals.  You have difficulty accomplishing your objectives in life because of basic conflicts you have between your ego drives and your emotional needs.  You will tend to live out one directly and to project the other onto someone else in your life.

You are lucky, but suffer from the tendency to "overplay your hand". You feel lucky and justified in the good coming to you.  The Moon inscribes a circle around the earth.  It moves more swiftly than other astronomical bodies and thus represents day to day and moment to moment movements, adjustments and preoccupations.  The Moon is the symbol of the personal life which is molded and shaped by our environment, by events, and by social and familial expectations. Further, the Moon shows our responses to life which are based on our past habits, experiences, our heritage and our individual and collective cravings.

The sign placement of the Moon shows how you project yourself to the general public, how the instinctive and imaginative component of your mind operates, how you express your feelings and your most general experiences of your family and mother.

The house placement of the Moon shows how and where you make day to day adjustments.  Further, it shows the things you are most interested in dealing with in order to gain emotional equilibrium.

The aspects of the Moon show the general characteristics of the personality that are emphasized.  Planets in aspect to the Moon are symbolic of qualities in the personality that are used instinctively, habitually and with a high degree of versatility.

MOON IN ARIES

You have an impelling, immediate approach to life.  Your personality is forceful and your feelings lay close to the surface of experience in life and are easily stimulated.  Your imagination is very powerful and stays active most of the time. You are independent and can move forcefully into a new situation and make strides forward on your own. You are enthusiastic but try to guard against being too self-willed and strident.  Avoid actions that stem from restlessness and you will complete more of the things you start.

MOON IS IN HARD ASPECT TO YOUR MERCURY

You have a restless mind and a lively imagination.  You learn quickly because you can imitate what you see others do.  It is possible to become over-sensitive to the environment and to make changes that are unnecessary through excessive imagination, worry, and slipshod, careless methodology.  Your interest in communicating your ideas and perceptions to others often needs to be slowed down a little.  Strive to make your information gathering and study habits stable and regular.

MOON OPPOSITION YOUR MERCURY

Trivial matters can greatly upset your emotional balance.  You can be quite nervous and touchy, hearing criticism and irritation where other ears perceive only observations.  Facts of everyday life come to you loaded with emotional meaning.  When you feel that the environment is friendly you see differentiations and implications lost on less sensitive souls.  Your digestion can be upset by your nervousness, hurry, or worry.  Your life is easiest when you wait for others to act before you start to speak.  Your skills are usually better used as a commentator or observer and generally less useful as a motivator.

You may suffer from pretending to be something that you are not. Avoid overstatement and exaggeration.  Arrogance can stop you from correcting yourself when you are in an untenable position. Emotionally enthusiastic, you easily inspire others.  You can however, also easily get ahead of yourself, leading people "down the primrose path" without sufficient supplies for the journey. You are lucky and abundant, but without judgment and discipline, you can be in a terrible mess many times.  Always harness your enthusiasm to your examination of the facts and your judgment will be better.

MOON IS IN HARD ASPECT TO YOUR URANUS

You get great ideas but have a tendency to act on a subject with brilliant insight and partial knowledge.  The accuracy of your specific perceptions successfully insulates you from needed correction by others.  When you become mentally defensive you fall into a pattern of emotional instability; that encourages you to promote less than your best ideas merely to be different.  You can fall into a negative spiral of being a social outcast and an iconoclast.  This is avoidable through finding the part of yourself that is genuinely interested in the welfare of humanity. As you get older, your emotional life becomes more stable as a direct result of (and in direct proportion to) your ability to express empathy for people in your daily life.  Big abstractions have to be practiced to have meaning.

Sudden emotional outbursts and abrupt change in circumstances keeps your life lively.  Just when life gets easy a complication emerges.  If you rise to the challenge your life is exciting and entertaining.

 Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun.  From the viewpoint of the earth it seems to dart back and forth across the face of the Sun, having three retrograde cycles a year.  Mercury is the planet of your mental life.  It shows how you receive, process and disseminate information. The sign placement of Mercury shows your basic attitude and mental habits.  The aspects of Mercury show your scope of vision and your methods for accomplishing tasks.

MERCURY IN LIBRA

Your mind is on a quest for perfection, harmony and beauty. You are rational and fond of comparison.  You look for justice.  You want the right answer, the right inflection and the right emphasis.  When you speak, others will see you are incredibly polished and persuasive.  Be careful you don't end up as some oily, back-bending huckster bent on selling through flattery.
