The summer solstice chart marks the entry of the sun into the cardinal sign of Cancer, another important astrological
marker useful for mundane analysis. The solstice occurred last week, providing us with an opportunity to continue our
study of mundane techniques. Remember that these cardinal ingress charts have been used by astrologers throughout the
ages as one way to anticipate political, economic, geo-physical and other trends for an upcoming period. While the
length of that period is not agreed upon, we can at least look out three months until the Libra ingress in September.

We invite you to examine the Cancer ingress chart with the following questions in mind:
- Despite disapproval from many Americans and some members of his own party, President Bush is holding his
course in Iraq. In addition, he is taking some heat from his own party on the war as well as on immigration.
Republican congressmen seeking election in November seem to want to stand at arms' length from him for fear
that his unpopularity will affect their own election results. What does this chart reveal about the President's
political strength or lack thereof in the coming months?
- Note that in this ingress and in the last one, early degrees of Leo are rising, with Saturn close to the
Ascendant. In the Aries ingress chart, Saturn formed a grand fire trine with the Sun exalted in Aries and the
Moon in Sagittarius. But in this chart, Saturn conjoins Mars and together they are in a T-square involving an
opposition of the Moon to Jupiter. What trends, events, actions or attitudes might this pattern describe? The

- The past three months under the Aries ingress have brought some unusually strong weather patterns and
